Roulette – How to Play
The idea of roulette is to predict which number the ball will land on the wheel. Predict the correct number and the payout is 35 to 1. That means if you bet 1 dollar you win 35. The number is also colored black and red and you can bet on one color and win that way. The chances of picking the right color are much better so the payout is much less.
The roulette wheel is made in two different designs. The European wheel has 36 slots, slot number 0 is -36 . The house has a 2.63 percent advantage. The double zero is added to the wheel which is the American roulette wheel. This makes the house edge much better by 5.26 percent.
Roulette was born in France. There are two places to bet on the roulette wheel. The betting area in the middle has all the wheel numbers on it. Outside there are boxes for each row and column, both colors, parts of a certain set of numbers and odd/even bets.
Every roulette table out there has a minimum and maximum bet amount. The bet amount applies to the entire board. For example if the maximum bet is fifty dollars and you bet 25 on numbers and 25 on colors is the maximum bet. You can also combine these amounts to meet the minimum bet if you wish.
Inside, there are lots of bets you can make. You can choose a number yourself or pick it up and the number next to it by placing a chip on the line between the numbers. This splits your bet between the two. A bet on a number pays 35 to 1. When you split between two numbers it pays 17-1.
If you place what is called a line bet, the payout is eleven to one. To place this bet, place your chip on the line that separates the inside and outside betting areas. This sets a portion on that line number.
You can place a quad bet and bet on four numbers at once by placing your chip on the line of intersection of four different numbers. This bet pays out eight to one. You place your chips on the line that separates the inside and outside areas as you would for a street bet, but let the chips also hang above or below the line. This is known as a double street bet and the payout is five to one.
